Jingye Group has made a major breakthrough in the research and development of thick-gauge duplex steel CR340/590DP

Recently, the Research Institute of Jingye Group, in collaboration with the Group's Technology Research Center and Gaopin Steel Technology Company, has made significant breakthroughs in the research and development project of thick-gauge cold-rolled duplex steel CR340/590DP (with a thickness of 1.98mm) through joint efforts.

Oct 27,2025

Cold-rolled duplex steel CR340/590DP, as an advanced high-strength steel, due to its unique low yield-to-tensile strength ratio, can effectively prevent local necking during the forming process and enhance the uniform deformation ability of the material. Meanwhile, its high formability ensures high precision and high pass rate in the stamping process of complex automotive parts. These advantages make it one of the key materials for automotive lightweighting and safety performance improvement, and it is widely used in the manufacturing of core components such as structural parts and safety parts.

During the process of technological breakthroughs, the R&D team utilized the thermodynamic and kinetic calculation software Thermo-calc for calculations and further conducted thermal simulation tests to precisely design the annealing process parameters for industrial trial production. Ultimately, through innovative process optimization, a small-batch trial production of "low cost and excellent performance" was successfully achieved. The yield strength was between 340 and 390MPa, and the elongation after fracture was as high as over 28%, meeting the strict requirements of material performance and providing a new solution for the low-cost production of thick-gauge duplex steel CR340/590DP.
This technological innovation breakthrough not only laid a solid foundation for the subsequent research and development of high-value-added steel varieties, further strengthened the confidence of the R&D team in innovation, but also provided customers with customized material solutions that "meet performance standards and have controllable costs".
