Jingye Group Successfully Rolls X42M Line Pipe Steel

Recently, the finishing mill line of Jingye Steel’s Hot Rolled Coil Division successfully rolled X42M line pipe steel. This steel grade features high strength, excellent weldability, corrosion resistance, and low-temperature impact toughness, and is widely used in oil and gas pipelines, marine engineering, and construction projects.
The key challenge in rolling X42M lies in achieving high strength while ensuring excellent low-temperature impact toughness. To meet these performance requirements, it is essential to ensure full dissolution of alloying elements, obtain an optimal prior austenite grain size, and precisely control critical process parameters, including heating time, rolling temperature, finishing entry temperature (not exceeding 1050 °C), laminar cooling rate, and low-temperature coiling.
To ensure smooth production, the Hot Rolled Coil Division held a special preparation meeting in advance to review process control points and formulate a temperature scheme tailored to the rolling line. Meanwhile, inter-stand process water was treated ahead of time to meet quality requirements, effectively ensuring strip shape stability and laying a solid foundation for the successful trial rolling.
The successful trial rolling of X42M line pipe steel not only enriches the Group’s portfolio of specialty steel products, but also injects strong momentum into Jingye Group’s product upgrading and transformation.
