Jingye Steel Successfully Develops Al-Zn Coated Hot Forming Steel S400GD+AZ for Automotive Applications

Recently, Jingye Steel has successfully developed and delivered Al-Zn coated hot forming structural steel S400GD+AZ, specifically designed for automotive structural and reinforcement components. This new product represents a significant breakthrough in alloy design by adopting a customized composition optimization approach. It not only ensures ultra-high performance after quenching but also effectively reduces alloy costs, achieving an optimal balance between performance and cost-efficiency.
In response to the growing demand for high-strength hot forming steel in the automotive industry, as well as the increasing requirements for lightweight design and enhanced safety performance, Jingye Steel has implemented a customer-oriented development strategy. By optimizing chemical composition and refining the full production process—including hot rolling, annealing, and welding parameters—the company ensures stable mechanical properties and high production efficiency.

Advanced process control has been applied to critical stages such as rapid cooling airflow and zinc bath temperature, resulting in uniform spangle distribution and उत्कृष्ट surface quality. After process optimization, the Al-Zn coated substrate maintains a stable strength level of 400 MPa, with a grain size above Grade 11. This provides excellent hot forming capability and a wide processing window, effectively preventing cracking and springback during cold forming.
During subsequent die quenching at approximately 900°C, a martensitic transformation is achieved, enabling the final product to reach ultra-high strength levels exceeding 1300 MPa while maintaining ideal toughness. This makes S400GD+AZ an excellent choice for automotive connectors and structural components requiring both strength and durability.

The first trial order of 64 tons has been successfully delivered and applied in automotive parts, receiving positive feedback from the customer. Follow-up orders totaling 300 tons have already been placed, demonstrating strong market recognition.
